Regular meeting
February 4, 2021 – 7:00 p.m.

Present: Harold Badger (chair), Scott Frederick, Sally Jackson, Peggy Vogt
Excused: Dennis McMillan
Officials and Staff: Tom Shedd, Zoning Administrator
Guests: None
The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Minutes: A motion was made by Frederick; seconded by Jackson, to approve the minutes of the October 1, 2020, meeting. Motion passed unanimously.
Agenda: A motion was made by Vogt; seconded by Jackson, to approve the agenda as presented. Motion passed unanimously.
Public Comments: None
Reports: Township Board: (1) Frederick reported that the township is working on a new web-site;
(2) There was a Road Department meeting. The 24 Mile bridge project was discussed along with turning some paved roads to gravel.
Zoning: Shedd presented lists of permits issued from October to February*. He reported on
several anticipated projects that will be upcoming.
Zoning Board of Appeals: Badger reported that Savion Energy requested a variance to Section
15-22-F pertaining to the height of poles. Savion requested that the height be changed for approximately nine service poles for wires going over I-94, Michigan Avenue and a river. The request was to change from the 100' height specified to 130' height. Badger reported that the variance was approved.
Unfinished Business: Master Plan: (1) Need a photo from Ranger Power to include in the Plan (2) Need a current equipment and personnel count from the Fire Department along with an appropriate photo. Need to include that the department currently does rescue calls. ((3) Need to include a map of the school districts served by the township.
New Business: A motion was made by Frederick; seconded by Jackson, to approve the meeting schedule for the Planning Commission for 2021-2022. Motion passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Frederick; seconded by Jackson, to retain the current Planning Commission officers. Motion passed unanimously.
Planning is requested to review the current Zoning Ordinance and note items that may need to be updated. Example: Review Section 15:25: J re: screening/security.

Planning may be contacted by the Gem Motel owners to request a Conditional Use Permit for reconstruction of the building into single storage units.
Planning is requested to gather information re: activity (party) barns.
Adjournment: A motion was made by Vogt; seconded by Frederick, to adjourn. Motion passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
