February 1, 2024 Planning Commission Meeting Minutes

Regular Meeting

February 1, 2024 – 7:05 pm

 

Planning Commission present:  Harold Badger (chair), Scott Frederick, Peggy Vogt, Rick Offerson

Absent: Sally Jackson (excused, vacation)

 

Officials and Staff:  David Martin, (Zoning Administrator)

 

The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag followed by a roll call of the Planning Commission members.

 

Agenda: A motion was made by Offerson; seconded by Vogt, to accept the agenda as presented.

Motion passed unanimously.

 

Minutes: (1) A motion was made by Offerson; seconded by Badger, to approve the minutes of the December 7, 2023, noting a correction in the spelling of Mr. Vanryan. (Correction has been made.)

Motion passed unanimously.

(2) A motion was made by Offerson; seconded by Badger, to accept the minutes of the workshop of January 18, 2024, as presented. Motion passed unanimously.

 

Public Comments: None.

 

Correspondence:  Doug Lewan of Carlisle-Wortman Associates, has requested a meeting prior to the regularly scheduled meeting of the Planning Commission. Tentative dates will be submitted to Lewan by Badger.

 

Reports: Township Board – (1) Frederick reported that the Township Board will be working on the upcoming budget at their next meeting. (2) The addition of the township fire barn is moving along. (3) The request to have three roads in the township resurfaced has been denied by the Calhoun County Road Commission.

Zoning Administrator – Martin presented a list of the permits recently granted.*

Zoning Board of Appeals – Badger reported that ata meeting held September 14, the Dollar General request was approved and the property split request at 13725 26 Mile Road was approved.

 

New Business: (1) Election of Officers: A motion was made by Vogt; seconded by Frederick, to nominate the following slate: Chair, Harold Badger, Vice Chair, Sally Jackson, and Secretary Rick Offerson. Motion passed unanimously.

(2) A motion was made by Offerson: seconded by Badger to accept the meeting dates for the Planning Commission for 2024-25 year as presented. Motion passed unanimously.

 

Unfinished Business: A Public Hearing will be scheduled re: fencing for solar energy fields at the next Planning Commission meeting scheduled for April 4. A notice will be placed in the newspaper.*

 

Campers – Recreational Vehicle Ordinance proposal.*

 

Adjournment:   The meeting was adjourned at 8:30pm.
