Sheridan Township Board of Trustee’s

November 19, 2019

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Richard Porter @ 7:00 p.m.

Pledge: The pledge was given by general public.

Present: Roll call Randy Fisher, Scott Frederick, Shanna Pollman, Brenda Heisler, and Richard Porter.

Absent: None

Audience: 7th District County Commissioner Gary Tompkins, Albion Library Director Cindy Stanczak, Chief Lance Lohrke, Fireman Tyler Collins, Rick Offerson Road Committee member and Linda DeBryler citizen from Leslie.

Approval of Agenda: A motion was made by Randy Fisher, 2nd by Scott Frederick to approve the agenda as presented. The motion passed.

Minutes: Stand as written with a motion made by Scott Frederick, 2nd by Randy Fisher. The motion passed.

Bills: A motion was made by Shanna Pollman, 2nd by Scott Frederick to pay the bills. Roll call vote – Yes – Randy Fisher, Scott Frederick, Richard Porter, Shanna Pollman, and Brenda Heisler. The motion passed.

Treasurer’s Investment Report: Accepted as written.

Correspondence: -Novi Power is requesting the Planning Committee to continue working on the Power Ordinance.

-The County Commissioner Meeting on November 21, 2019 is to vote on the 509 Policy.

-Savion Power has filed all papers and sent in checks.

Planning Committee: -Scott Frederick reported that there has been two Public Hearing with and was a huge turnout.

-The Planning Committee also had a Public Hearing on the Anderson Land Purchase.

Fire Department: -See the attached report.

- Chief Lohrke reported that training was held on the 13th and 14th of October 2019, covering pumping and drafting.

-October 28th and 30th they toured Knauf Industries.

-The Fire Department received a $2,000.00 donation from the VFW. This will be used for 4 gas monitors and extraction equipment.

Public Comment: -County Commissioner Gary Tompkins reported that the Senior Millage is up for renewal in August of 2020, and will be put on the August Ballot.

-The Tree removal is also a huge problem it now has been taken out of the proposal.

-Library Director Cindy Stanczak gave her library report.

Unfinished Business: None

New Business: -The Camper Ordinance – can be renewed if more time is needed. The Ordinance does not need a Hearing due to it being a “Police Ordinance”. A motion was made by Scott Frederick, 2nd by Randy Fisher to pass the Camper Ordinance. Roll call vote –Yes – Randy Fisher, Brenda Heisler, Richard Porter, Shanna Pollman, and Scott Frederick. The motion passed.

-The quote for the Davis Property demo was discussed. There was a quote from Larry Nelson at $8,500.00 and a quote from Walt Obrinskie for $6,800.00. The board has discussed the property demo and a motion was made by Scott Frederick, 2nd by Shanna Pollman to use Walt Obrinskie for the demo. Roll call vote – Yes – Scott Frederick, Shanna Pollman, Richard Porter, Randy Fisher, and Brenda Heisler. The motion passed.

-There was a discussion of the Township holiday closings for the year for the remainder of 2019-2020. A motion was made to approve the closings by Shanna Pollman, 2nd by Randy Fisher. The motion passed,

-The General Policy Manual for Sheridan Township needs to be completed for 2020. This was tabled for (2) months February. A motion was made by Randy Fisher, 2nd by Shanna Pollman to table the Policy Manual until February. The motion passed.

Adjourn: A motion was made to adjourn by Shanna Pollman, 2nd by Scott Frederick @ 8:10 p.m. The motion passed.
