Sheridan Township Board of Trustee’s
July 16, 2019
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Richard Porter at 7:00 p.m.
Pledge: The pledge was given by County Commissioner Gary Tompkins.
Present: Roll call Randy Fisher, Scott Frederick, Shanna Pollman, Brenda Heisler, and Richard Porter.
Absent: None
Audience: Scott McLane from Markowski Auditing Firm,7th District County Commissioner Gary Tompkins, Doug Pollman Citizen, Cindy Stanczak Director of the Albion District Library.
Approval of Agenda: A motion was made by Randy Fisher, 2nd by Shanna Pollman to approve the agenda as presented. The motion passed.
Minutes: The minutes stand as written.
Bills: A motion was made by Shanna Pollman, 2nd by Scott Frederick to pay the bills. Roll call vote – Yes – Brenda Heisler, Shanna Pollman, Randy Fisher, Richard Porter, and Scott Frederick. The motion passed.
Treasurer’s Investment Report: The Investment Report stands as written.
Correspondence: Richard Porter discussed the Savion Solar Company’s Question and Answer Open House was held on Thursday July 11, 2019.
Planning Committee: -Scott Frederick gave his report that the Planning Committee has sent the Master Plan on to the County for approval.
-The County Road Committee has 2 signs left for the upcoming Road Millage Election on August 6, 2019.
Fire Department: -See attached report.
-Chief Lance Lohrke was absent so Supervisor Porter gave his report. The Fire Department held training June 9th and 10th, 2019 covering drafting and relay pumping for the fire fighters.
Public Comment: -Gary Tompkins County Commissioner talked about the roads.
-Chip and seal is going on in the County. Our 2 primary roads have been completed.
-If there are any issues please continue to call and let the County know.
- County Commissioner’s Newsletter is available on line as well as at the Sheridan Township Office.
-Act 51- the inadequacy of this bill is in his newsletter. The cost share is not equal, (see attached pages). Act 51 is not good for the Townships we need to go to the polls and be heard. Take care of the roads and drop Act 51.
-The Pace Center that will open early 2020 on B Drive North Albion, Michigan 49224, and is for Senior Citizens.
-Cindy Stanczak Director of the Albion District Library reported that summer reading is in full swing.
-They have put a Planetarium in the “Lane Room”.
-A field trip to Kingman Museum is set for August 3, 2019, please contact the Library is you wish to go.
-CBD Oil to discussed, to educate the populists July 30th at the Library.
-Opening this Friday and Saturday (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.) for cooling center as well as is the Senior Center due to the extreme heat this coming weekend.
Unfished Business: None
New Business: -Scott McLane from Markowski Auditing Firm reported on our audit. Scott said we are very solvent and doing a great job.
Adjourn: A motion was made to adjourn by Randy Fisher, 2nd by Shanna Pollman at 7:50 p.m. The motion passed.
